Bandit was born when Morgan found an old family cookbook hidden behind her grandmother's broken television set. Inside were her West Texas relatives' prized recipes for pies dating back over a hundred years. She packed up the book and brought it home to Los Angeles where the rest is history. The name Bandit perfectly captures the pies Texas roots and their journey out west.
When Uncle Frankie was alive, every bite of crust and filling had to be perfect. If even a quarter inch of merengue wept, he threw the whole thing out and started over... even during the Great Depression. It's this passion for pie and dedication to quality that I want to bring to you, in Uncle Frankie's loving memory. To do that, our ingredients come from local farmers, the menu changes seasonally to reflect Mother Nature's best, and the dough is always made by hand.
Most people associate pies with the cooler fall weather. For Morgan, her favorite memories are visiting her grandmother during the summertime and baking up everyone's family favorites from chocolate merengue to pecan and key lime pie. In her family, birthdays are celebrated with pies, not cakes and everyone considers themselves a crust expert. She comes from a long line of piesmiths and is proud to revive these recipes with her own added twist. When she isn't baking, she's enjoying time with her husband, daughter and two dogs, here in Los Angeles.
